I hate to even admit to myself that I need to start thinking about Christmas. I'm just not that type of person. Planning to go out to dinner on Friday night when it's Wednesday seems like long range planning to me.
But, if you want to have inventory for the season, you'll need to plan by the retail calendar. And it's not just sales, mind you. For me, there are lots of friends birthdays coming up before then (August and September are big months for me) and I like to give a few handmade gifts for the holidays too.
Buy Your Supplies Now!
If you want to make your life easier as things start to get more hectic, buy your supplies now. If you've been reading my blog, you'll know I have been buying plenty of supplies to make jewelry recently. It hasn't really been with an eye towards the holidays - but it will be for the month of August.
Get Organized to be Successful
If you are starting to think about Christmas, or would like to, I highly recommend this post on the Fusion Beads Blog. It has great tips on how to plan, keep track of, and organize projects for holiday gift giving. I am going to try to adapt the methodology to making things for my soon-to-be stocked Etsy shop and jewelry sale website.
If you have any tips that help you make it through the crazy holiday season sane, I'd love to hear them.
