Color Challenge: Peruvian Opal Earrings

A quick pair of earrings for last week's Color Combination Challenge group on Facebook.  I'm really going to try and keep up with it and the Year of Jewelry next year (yes, I am making my New Year's Resolution list).

I'm really happy with these earrings - I didn't stress about making the wraps perfect - and I made the frames with several wraps of thin wire instead of a single frame of thicker wire.  It was actually much easier this way.

The briolettes are Peruvian Opals - not a high grade stone - but really very pretty in a rustic muted sort of way.  I used grey Toho beads on the outside of the frame.  The ear wire is accented with a 3mm round carnelian.

If you look closely, you'll notice that I really made a significant goof - but since I don't think you can tell unless you really look - and I like these enough to keep them for myself, I'm not going to change it.  Let me know if you can tell what I messed up.

  1. Very pretty! The colors are nice together. And no, I couldn't see where you messed up. Merry Christmas!

  2. Thank you! My goof was that one earring wraps twice around the frame and the other wraps 3 times. I don't think anyone can tell when I wear them. Of course, I noticed the problem about half way through the second earring - and I just couldn't go back. Happy New Year!!
