YOJ Week 21: Silver Waterfall Earrings (Rio from The Earring Style Book)

I'm not sure this picture makes these earrings look quite as fabulous as they really are.  You may recognize them from the book cover of The Earring Style Book that I wrote about in my last post.  I meant to follow the instructions from the book precisely, but it didn't quite work out that way (that's another story that I'll post later).

These are 16g frames with 4mm coated labradorite beads wired to the frame using 26g wire.  I suspect if I were to make another pair of these, they would come out much better.  I can tell the left earring was
the second one I made since the wraps are much neater than on the right one.  The coated labradorite beads have great shine combined with their natural blue flash so they are very shimmery.  A friend commented that they reminded her of a silvery waterfall, so that's where the name comes from.  In the book, these are called Rio. I enjoyed wearing them with jeans, but they really deserved something much dressier.

The second picture gives you a really good idea of how the earrings are constructed.

  1. The more I look at these, the more I like them. I may have to try out some of the other designs in the book. Nicely done, Lisa!

  3. Thank you! I really love these earrings - but so far I'm finding everything in the earring style book comes out fabulous. I wish I could take credit - but they are such nice designs. These coated labradorite beads are special too. Glad I bought a lot of them!
